Sibelco Wins Gender Equality Award
On 5 July 2018, Sibelco won the Gender Equality – Industrial Sector Award at the LC Diversity Awards held in Milan, Italy.
The LC Diversity & Inclusion Awards recognise companies which have demonstrated a commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace in Italy. Sibelco was nominated for this award for the commitments we’ve made to improving gender balance, highlighting the recent changes to our recruitment and talent progression processes.
Alessia Crivelli, Sibelco’s HR Manager, based in Milan, accepted the Gender Equality Award on behalf of Sibelco.
“We’re proud of the steps we have started to take to improve diversity at Sibelco, particularly around gender diversity, and we’re thrilled to be recognised through this award. As a global team we’ve made some real, valuable improvements to ensure we’re promoting Sibelco to a wider, more diverse pool of candidates, and this is only the beginning,” said Alessia.
The panel of judges also commended the team for organising and taking part in dedicated training sessions focused on raising self-awareness of unconscious bias and challenging beliefs around gender stereotypes.
“Unconscious bias exists in all of us as human beings. Through training, we have learnt how to minimise this where possible, as well as through our behaviour and in our communication. All these efforts, both the processes we improve and the training we undergo, ensure we’re creating a more inclusive workplace and a culture our people feel proud to be a part of,” said Alessia.
Sponsored by the Municipality of Milan, and the likes of Google, INH and SEA Aeroporti, the event saw over 150 guests attend from industries spanning finance, legal, government and mining, to name a few.
