What attracts you to Sibelco?
First of all, Sibelco’s commitment to our Safety culture is very important to me. You can see this culture throughout Sibelco, not only in the field, but also via active communication, knowledge sharing and best practices on Yammer. Furthermore, I feel like Sibelco empowers its people. We have a lot of learning opportunities throughout the company, from the Bright Site Project (BSP) to Lean and project management and Score. Lastly, what interests me is the cross-functional interaction and cooperation, the fact that people are easily approachable and that you have a chance to learn about different cultures because of our international representation.
What is the best career advice you ever received?
My father has always been my mentor. At a very early stage in my career, he told me “
If you want to be a successful leader, you should listen more, empower more, appreciate more and be surrounded more by people who are better than you”. I have been following this advice ever since and I thank my father every day for instilling this thought very deeply into my mind.
What dreams – personal or professional – do you have for the future?
India is the land of opportunities. I want to see Sibelco in India spreading its wings and grow by investing in new projects in alignment with our vision of sustainability in the coming years. It would be my professional goal to improve Sibleco’s brand equity in the Southeast Asia region and contribute to the company’s growth plans. The Sibelco India Team is poised to deliver and ready for this.
Personally, I have always been a firm believer in giving back to society what it gave me in synch with the current wave of Corporate Social Responsibility. I would love to work with educational institutions to pass on the knowledge I have gained working in the industry and help shape future generations of professionals.
What defines you as a team manager?
Understanding the potential of individuals and empowering them to excel in their areas of strength and complementing them in their areas for improvement.
