Sibelco is a global material solutions company. We utilise nature’s raw materials to provide solutions for society and support the cradle-to-cradle loop. From drinking water sanitation to solar technology, every day our materials work as essential components in the progress of society.
Sibelco was founded in 1872, initially supplying silica sand from deposits in Flanders to Belgium’s major glass producers. Our association with the clay industry stretches back even further, with our UK operations producing world-renowned ball clay in the south west of England for over 300 years. Today, Sibelco is still a privately owned & family business, operating in over 200 production sites in more than 40 countries with a team nearing 10,000 people. Our shareholders, united for more than 140 years, provide stability and a long term view on our business.
The safety of our employees, visitors and contractors is, of course, our priority. We put great effort into achieving both zero workplace injuries and caring for the wellness of our employees.
We take pride in working closely with our customers and gaining intimate knowledge of their needs and processes; drawing on our global resources and expertise to deliver solutions and real value for all end users of our products. Our business is constantly evolving to meet the needs of a growing population and supporting the progress of modern life today and tomorrow.
Our vision at Sibelco, is to be the best global material solutions company; market driven, operationally excellent, with a compelling culture. Our ambition goes beyond financial status and size; starting with safety and extending to all disciplines.
We take a global view, looking beyond geographic and regional boundaries. We continue to explore opportunities beyond our current minerals and markets to meet the needs of our customers.
At Sibelco, people are essential to our success and our culture is integral to our strategy – we continue to build upon a compelling culture that attracts, engages and retains the best people.
Our vision for Operational Excellence sets us apart from our competitors. It provides the medium to long term view that guides and focuses our efforts, and the benchmark against which we measure our progress and performance. We have identified five dimensions of Operational Excellence which are relevant to our business:
A fundamental strength of Sibelco is our application-focused research and technical centres. Our research and development programs are rooted in strong customer and industry relationships and nurtured through a process that encourages collaborative exchange. By actively listening and responding to our customers, we strategically place the customer at the centre of our operations.
Innovation is the guiding principle we employ to create value for our stakeholders. We have the flexibility and global network to change as the markets, and therefore the needs of our customers, change, so we are well placed to provide solutions to customers for the long term.
