Further to our communication of 1st October, we would like to provide you with an update regarding the Chapter 11 process of Covia.
After four days of hearings and further discussions among all of the stakeholders, on Friday 11th December the US bankruptcy court overseeing the Covia bankruptcy cases announced the approval of (i) the Covia Chapter 11 plan of reorganisation and (ii) the settlement between Sibelco and Covia whereby Sibelco would be fully released from any and all potential claims arising out of the 2018 merger between Unimin and Fairmount-Santrol in exchange for, among other things, payment of US $3.75 million. Formal orders implementing the plan and the settlement will be entered by the court during the course of the week of 14th December.
Message from the Chairman
25 September 2020
Stefan Borgas steps down as director.
Dear Sibelco Shareholder,
I write to inform you that Stefan Borgas has decided to step down from his position on the Sibelco Board of Directors. Stefan’s energy and acumen have been of great benefit to the Board and we are sad to see him leave. We wish him all the best and will start the search for his replacement straight away. He has asked me to pass on the following message to you:
“Today, I left the board of directors of Sibelco with much sorrow. I took this decision not lightly together with my fellow board members, simply because of a lack of adequate time that I can dedicate to such an important role in the near future. Sibelco is a great company, delivering great value for its customers and with fantastic people. I want to offer my deepest respect for the organization. I enjoyed my time with the Board, the management and the family. I’m a sure that Hilmar Rode (CEO) and his team will take Sibelco forward into a bright future.”
