Sibelco acquires Dutch silica producer Kremer Zand en Grind

Sibelco today announced that it has acquired Kremer Zand en Grind (KZG), a Dutch producer of wet, dried and calibrated silica sand and gravel.

The acquisition of Kremer is fully aligned with the Sibelco 2025 strategy and Sibelco’s vision to become the global leader in silica sand. The acquisition will expand Sibelco’s customer base and extends Sibelco’s silica sand reserves and resources in Western Europe.

This new addition to Sibelco will initially continue to provide materials to customers under the Kremer brand name.


About Kremer Zand en Grind

Family-owned Kremer Zand en Grind produces a wide range of silica products, calibrated sands and mixtures both wet, dry and packed as well as bulk, for a wide range of applications for customers mainly located in the Dutch market.  The materials are used in different industries, including water treatment, construction, sports and leisure, and renewable energy.

Kremer Zand en Grind performs underwater sand extraction (through dredging) at the Sellingerbeetse quarry in Sellingen in the Groningen province in the north of the Netherlands. Processing and packaging take place at a plant located about 30 km away in Emmen, in the Drenthe province.

Kremer Zand en Grind currently employs 30 people.
